List Your Existing Network
Most people underestimate the size and value of their existing network. You already know people who can introduce you to hiring managers, refer you for roles, or give you insider information about companies. Today you map out who those people are so you can activate them strategically.

Open a blank document or a new tab in your job search tracker. Set a timer and brainstorm without filtering.
Complete these steps
Write down everyone you know professionally Include: former colleagues, former managers, former direct reports, clients, vendors, professional contacts, industry peers, people you have met at events or conferences.
Write down everyone you know personally who might have relevant connections Include: friends, family members, neighbours, people from university or college, people from volunteer work, people from community groups or clubs.
Categorize them Tier 1 β People who know your work well and would recommend you without hesitation Tier 2 β People who know you professionally but you haven't been in close contact recently Tier 3 β Acquaintances who might have relevant connections even if they don't know your work closely
Aim for at least 20 names Most people can get to 20-30 names quickly once they stop filtering. Write everyone down β you can decide later who to contact and how.
Tips for success
Check your LinkedIn connections for names you may have forgotten
