Have your job search tracker open and ready to log what you find.
Complete these steps
Know what a strong match looks like A strong match is a role where you meet at least 70% of the requirements. You do not need to meet 100%. Research shows women tend to only apply when they meet 100% of requirements while men apply at 60%. Apply if you are a strong but not perfect match.
Search on multiple platforms Search for your target role on:
LinkedIn Jobs
Indeed
Glassdoor
Company career pages you bookmarked yesterday
Industry-specific job boards if relevant to your field
Evaluate each posting For each job you find ask:
Do I have at least 70% of the required skills and experience?
Is this a role I am genuinely excited about?
Is the company on my target list or one I would want to work for?
Are the location and work arrangement right for me?
Save 3 strong matches Do not apply yet. Save the job posting URLs, copy the full job description into a document, and log them in your tracker.
Read each posting carefully For each of your 3 matches read the full posting. Note the key requirements, keywords, and anything specific about the role that you can reference in your application.
