Audit Your Active Pipeline

WEEK 4DAY 1TASK 1

Audit Your Active Pipeline

For returning professionals managing a pipeline carefully is particularly important because your search involves more channels than a standard job search. You are tracking both traditional applications and returnship programs, both new connections and reactivated old relationships. Getting a complete picture of where everything stands today means you can close the final week with focus and intention.

WHY THIS MATTERS

For returning professionals managing a pipeline carefully is particularly important because your search involves more channels than a standard job search. You are tracking both traditional applications and returnship programs, both new connections and reactivated old relationships. Getting a complete picture of where everything stands today means you can close the final week with focus and intention.

Step by Step

1
Step 1

Open your job search tracker and go through every application, conversation, and returnship program inquiry you have had over the past four weeks.

2
Step 2

Categorize each one: Active: You have had at least one conversation and there are clear next steps. Waiting: You have applied or followed up and are waiting to hear back. Stalled: You have not heard anything in 14 or more days and have already followed up once. Closed: You received a rejection or have decided this opportunity is no longer right for you.

3
Step 3

For everything in the Active category write down the specific next step and the date by which it needs to happen.

4
Step 4

For everything in the Waiting category check whether a follow-up is due. If it has been 7 or more days since your last contact add it to today's follow-up list.

5
Step 5

For everything in the Stalled category send one final brief follow-up today. If you do not hear back within a week consider it closed.

6
Step 6

Check on any returnship program applications separately These programs often have longer and less predictable timelines than standard roles. If you applied to any programs more than 3 weeks ago and have not heard back it is completely appropriate to send a brief inquiry to the program coordinator.

Tips Active conversations are your most valuable assets in Week 4. Do not let them go cold because you are distracted by new applications. Returnship programs often move more slowly than traditional hiring. Do not interpret silence as rejection. Following up professionally is appropriate and expected.
