Audit Your Active Pipeline

WEEK 4DAY 1TASK 1

Audit Your Active Pipeline

A job search without a clear picture of what is active, what is stalled, and what needs attention is one where opportunities get missed. This matters more for employed candidates because you have less time and attention to give to the search than someone who is searching full time. Today you get complete clarity on where everything stands.

WHY THIS MATTERS

A job search without a clear picture of what is active, what is stalled, and what needs attention is one where opportunities get missed. This matters more for employed candidates because you have less time and attention to give to the search than someone who is searching full time. Today you get complete clarity on where everything stands.

Step by Step

1
Step 1

Open your job search tracker and go through every application you have submitted over the past four weeks.

2
Step 2

Categorize each one: Active: You have had at least one conversation with this company and there are clear next steps. Waiting: You have applied or followed up and are waiting to hear back. Stalled: You have not heard anything in 14 or more days and have already followed up once. Closed: You received a rejection or have decided this opportunity is no longer right for you.

3
Step 3

For everything in the Active category write down the specific next step and the date by which it needs to happen. Put these in your calendar.

4
Step 4

For everything in the Waiting category check whether a follow-up is due. If it has been 7 or more days since your last contact, add it to today's follow-up list.

5
Step 5

For everything in the Stalled category send one final brief follow-up today. If you do not hear back within a week consider it closed.

Tips Active opportunities need consistent attention even when your current job is busy. Block time in your calendar specifically for search-related follow-ups so they do not get pushed out by work demands. Do not let promising conversations go cold because you got busy at your current job. A missed follow-up at the right moment can cost you an opportunity that took weeks to build.
