Write a Letter to Yourself From the Other Side

WEEK 4DAY 6TASK 1

Write a Letter to Yourself From the Other Side

This exercise is consistently one of the most useful things you can do when a search feels long and uncertain. Writing from the perspective of having already landed your first role and settled into it activates a part of your thinking that pure tactical action does not reach.

WHY THIS MATTERS

This exercise is consistently one of the most useful things you can do when a search feels long and uncertain. Writing from the perspective of having already landed your first role and settled into it activates a part of your thinking that pure tactical action does not reach.

Step by Step

1
Step 1

Imagine it is one year from now. You are six months into your first professional role and genuinely glad you kept going. The search is behind you.

2
Step 2

Write a letter to your current self from that future place. Include: What the role is and why you are proud of it. What the search taught you about yourself and what you actually want from your career. What you would tell your current self on the hard days of Week 4. What you are most grateful for about the experience of starting your career this way.

3
Step 3

Read it back.

4
Step 4

Save it somewhere you can return to on hard days.

Tips This is not a wishful thinking exercise. It is a clarity and resilience exercise. The goal is to reconnect with where you are headed and remind yourself that the effort you are putting in is building something real.
